In October 2003, Meridian became part of the team that was awarded the five-year Technical Assistance and Support Contract 2 (TASC 2) by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support population, health, and nutrition activities worldwide.

The project focuses on a wide range of health areas, including maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, infectious diseases, environmental health, reproductive health and family planning, and nutrition.

Other areas of involvement include birth spacing, family planning, health behavior change communications, HIV/AIDS prevention, reproductive health and male involvement.

Meridian's partners include Research Triangle Institute (Prime), Carolina Population Center (CPC) at UNC-Chapel Hill, Counterpart International, EngenderHealth, FHI Institute for HIV/AIDS, International Center for Research on Women (ICRW), Program of Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), and Save the Children Federation, Inc.
