In many parts of
the world, reproductive health and family planning services
have usually focused on the needs of the female partner, and
the reproductive health needs of men have not been met.
However, research shows that when men are involved in
reproductive health and family planning decisions, both men
and women are more likely to communicate with each other and
make joint decisions about contraceptive use and planned
pregnancies.
Meridian is active in promoting male involvement in family
planning and reproductive health initiatives mainly through
the promotion of contraceptive methods (such as condoms and
vasectomy) that require men’s active participation. By
creating advertising and promotional campaigns that are both
educational and motivational, Meridian seeks to not only
dispel the negative myths and rumors that often surround
these methods, but to increase male involvement in family
planning through improved informed choice.
